Hip-Hop Deutsch

Since I have been in Köln I have heard so many different types of music. From the classical music of my flutist friends, to soccer fans singing “Country Roads” e v e r y s i n g l e weekend, or the Kölsch song written by Willi Osterman for the celebration of Karnival, I have learned to love it all. But, I never thought I would like German hip-hop. Who knew?

I first heard German hip-hop at the gym with my trainer Felix. It has a beat, energy and heart even though I don’t always understand the words. Then I met Bensolo and watched his videos. His music is a bit more soulful to my ears than the angst I had been listening to. His lyrics are a bit more melodic as well. But what I appreciate most is that he is a storyteller that makes me want to listen. I am no expert so you decide.
